The night after I asked the Lord to give some prophet a dream about me, a man called me saying he had a dream in which I was flying a plane and dropping an atomic bomb. It was shock and awe. But I needed more confirmation. I heard that a well-known prophet was coming to speak at our church. I prayed to the Lord, asking Him to again confirm that I was supposed to call the world into a 40-day fast to unleash the harvest. I prayed, “Lord, if you want me to call this global fast, have this prophet call me out with a word of knowledge using my name and the scripture Ecclesiastes 11:1, ‘Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days.’” I was asking, “Lord, should I throw out the bread of my revelation of fasting on the waters of history and should we not eat natural food for 40 days?” Amazingly, the prophet called me out by my middle name Dean, which no one knew, and said, “You don’t know the significance of your name, Dean, but a time will come when you’ll know.” Then he declared, “And I see that you are skinny for you are fasting and the Lord says, ‘Ecclesiastes 11:1, “Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days.”’”
It was shock and awe! It was as if God again dropped an atomic bomb in my own soul! Needless to say, I began to blow the trumpet and mobilize the fast as far and wide as I could.
Soon after this word, I received an honorary doctorate degree from a Bible school in Los Angeles. When giving me the diploma, the President of the school noticed that the Dean of Students had not signed his name. I immediately knew that this had to do with the prophet’s word that it was not yet time to know the significance of my name Dean and its obvious connection with calling the 40-day fast. I think it’s interesting to note that Ecclesiastes 11:1 says, “For you will find it after many days.” I cast my bread upon the waters and I don’t know how many fasted or how far and wide it spread. But now, years later, many nations are hurling themselves into The Jesus Fast. My bread is coming back to me.
After mobilizing fasting for 15 years through TheCall, suddenly the significance of my name Dean took on new meaning in the person of a man named Dean Briggs.
