DAY 14 – The Fast for the Unity of the Church

Mar 14, 2020

Only a united Church can heal a divided nation.

"I pray…that they all may be one, as you Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us, that the world may believe that You sent Me." – John 17:20-21, NKJV

"And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death." – Revelation 12:7-11, NKJV

In Revelation 12, we see a great vision of a cosmic heavenly war. Michael, the Archangel prince over Israel, with the angel armies of God, overcomes Satan and his angels in this grand conflict. Satan is dispossessed from his position in the heavenlies and is cast down to the earth. The only other time we see Michael warring in heaven is when Daniel fasts 21 days in Babylon. In response to Daniel’s fasting prayers, Michael engages and defeats the spirit Prince of Persia and the Jewish exodus out of Babylon occurs. In my thinking, the connection is quite significant, instructive, and possibly prophetic of a time when Christ’s Body will engage in corporate fasting, prayer, and worldwide agreement, inaugurating war in the heavens against Satan, the Accuser of the Brethren who seeks to divide the Church racially, theologically, between genders, and denominationally. The ultimate division will be between Jews and Gentiles. A massive anti-Semitic spirit will be unleashed, along with racial conflicts worldwide. Jesus, in John 17, prayed that we would be one so that the world would believe. Could it be that the Accuser of the Brethren is that global spirit over racism and the Jew/Gentile division, that keeps us from fulfilling Christ’s prayer and the One New Man in Christ that will be manifested? The archangel Michael will war against this spirit in the final conflict over Jerusalem and the nation of Israel. Could this be fulfilled even in this fast, as tens of thousands pray today Jesus’ prayer that we may be one in John 17, so that the world may believe. The great harvest of souls is obviously connected with our oneness with Christ and one another. Even as we pray today, we believe that the Accuser of the Brethren is being thrown down in some dimension for the fulfillment of Jesus’ prayer.

In this Global 40-day Jesus Fast of 2020 and beyond, we believe that the Church is stepping onto the threshold of a mighty worldwide assault on the gates of hell so that, in some measure, the serpent of old, called the Devil, who deceives the whole world, will be cast down, and a loud sound from heaven will be heard: “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down” (Rev. 12:10). Let us pray Jesus’ prayer in massive corporate unity, that we may be one, so that the world will believe.

Prayer:

Lord, today with tens of thousands in heaven and on earth, we join the intercessions of Jesus before the very throne of the Father, crying, “Lord, make us one, that the world may believe.” We cry out for the shattering of the power of the Accuser of the Brethren. Place a guard over the lips of Your Church and over our hearts, so that the Body of Your Son will not be broken. Lord, loose the angelic hosts to inaugurate war in the heavens. Bring forth Your burden that Jew and Gentile might be one. Release the One New Man into the earth. God we pray for unity in our families, in our marriages, in our churches, so that Your heart is comforted, in Jesus’ name.
